Scandalous video from an excursion in Derbent results in dismissal of guide
A female guide was dismissed from a museum-reserve in Derbent after a public apology for the unceremonious mention of an archaeologist to tourists. The museum administration and State Duma member Khizri Abakarov also apologized to the archaeologist. Khizri Abakarov demanded a stricter punishment for the female guide.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that the practice of public apologies is widespread in Chechnya, where people voice apologies for addressing fortune-tellers, criticizing officials, and other words that displeased the authorities. However, the practice of apologies has spread to other regions of Russia, including Dagestan.
On the evening of June 7, the public budgetary institution “Derbent Museum-Reserve” posted in its Telegram channel a video with the apology of the female guide. “The guide grossly violated the established rules for conducting excursions on the territory of the museum-reserve, expressed in the distortion of the excursion text, as well as in violation of the ethical rules of conduct and requirements for the guide. The museum-reserve has taken measures to prevent such cases from happening in the future,” the annotation to the video reports.
The museum administration also apologized for the behaviour of the female guide.
On June 7, in his Telegram channel, State Duma member Khizri Abakarov, the former State Secretary of Dagestan, wrote that the female guide was dismissed after the scandal. “The unfortunate tour guide has already been dismissed, and we will seek to bring her to justice under the law,” Khizri Abakarov wrote.
