Kuban is among three to Russian regions-leaders in army discrediting cases

Since March 4, a total of 112 administrative cases have been opened in the Krasnodar Territory (also known as Kuban by the name of the main river) on discrediting the Russian Army. Chechnya is among the three regions where not a single protocol was drawn up under this article; it follows from the data of the "OVD-Info"* human rights project.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that after on March 4, the administrative liability was enforced for discrediting the Russian Armed Forces (Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation), commentators in social networks and picketers began being held liable under this article.

In total after March 4, Russian law enforcers have opened 2393 administrative cases under Article 20.3.3 on discrediting the Russian Army, the "OVD-info"* human rights project reported on June 7.

It is known that protocols under this article were drawn up in 82 Russian regions. The average fine imposed is 35,492 roubles; and the total amount of all the fines imposed by courts in Russian regions has reached 27,258,000 roubles, says the post in the Telegram channel "OVD-Info* Live".

The leaders in the number of discrediting cases are Moscow, where, according to the project, 360 administrative cases have already been opened; Saint Petersburg – 142 cases, and Kuban – with 112 administrative cases opened under Article 20.3.3. In three Russian regions, namely, in Chechnya, the Tyva and Magadan Regions, not a single administrative case was opened under this article.

*The project has been put by the Russian Ministry of Justice on the roster of unregistered public associations acting as a foreign agent.
