The State Office of Public Prosecutor has initiated a "terror act" criminal case. A reward of 500,000 roubles has been announced for any information that may help in disclosing the crime.
It is already the third attempt on the life of Ankvab, who took the post of Prime Minister of Abkhazia on February 14, 2005. Earlier, he was lucky to get completely safe out of this sort of incidents, although after the previous attempt, his service jeep counted 17 bullet holes.
According to Arthur Mikvabiya, Chairman of the Reform and Structural Transformation Committee under Abkhazian President, "the today's attempt was directed not personally against Prime Minister Alexandr Ankvab, but against the Abkhazian statehood."
Indignation on the occasion of the attempt on the Prime Minister was expressed by public organizations and political movements of Abkhazia, school pedagogical collectives, President of Abkhazia and representatives of various power bodies.
