Armenia rejects accusation of shelling Azerbaijani border

Armenian militaries did not shell the positions of the Azerbaijani Army, the Armenian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Armenia and Azerbaijan are periodically accusing each other of shelling on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

Armenian servicemen shelled the Azerbaijani positions in the Kelbadjar District from the territory of the Vardenis District, the Azerbaijani MoD reported on May 14.

The Armenian MoD has refuted the accusation of the Azerbaijani counterpart.

"The statement of the Azerbaijani MoD that on May 14, units of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia shelled from small arms the Azerbaijani combat positions deployed in the eastern section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border is disinformation," reads the message posted on the website of the Armenian MoD on May 14.

In its turn, the Russian MoD has stated, in its newsletter on the activities of the Russian peacemaking contingent, that no violations were recorded in the responsibility zone of Russian peacemakers in Nagorno-Karabakh.
