Novorossiysk activist fined under article about army discrediting

Askhabali Alibekov, who runs the "Wild Paratrooper" blog on the YouTube, was found guilty of discrediting the armed forces. He disagrees with the ruling and intends to appeal against it.

In his video posted on May 12, the activist explained that he tried to coordinate, in particular, holding a solo picket against the special operation in Ukraine, and submitted a notification to the city administration, but the authorities of Novorossiysk refused him, pointing out that a solo picket "falls under the article of an administrative offense."

According to Askhabali, he had already been fined by 30,000 roubles for holding an action under an article about discrediting the armed forces. "I don't understand what was discrediting in my actions? (...) I am doing a good deed," he said in his video.
