On April 4-10, 2022, no one fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus
During the week of April 4-10, 2022, no killed or wounded in the ongoing armed conflict in Northern Caucasus were reported. These are the results of the calculations run by the “Caucasian Knot” based on its own materials and information from other open sources.
Detention of Leyla Chemurzieva
On the night of April 5-6, law enforcers detained Leyla Chemurzieva, who had earlier criminal record for participating in an illegal armed formation. The detainee was placed to an IVS (temporary detention facility), and a criminal case was instituted against her under the article on illegal trafficking in explosives or explosive devices (Part 1 of Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
In 2016, Leyla Chemurzieva was sentenced to eight years of imprisonment for participating in an illegal armed formation (IAF), then the court reduced her sentence to 6.5 years of imprisonment. Earlier, an advocate told the “Caucasian Knot” that law enforcers were putting pressure on Leyla Chemurzieva because she was a widow of alleged militant Vakha Tochiev, killed in a special operation in 2006, and no evidence of her guilt was submitted to court.
Every month, quarter, and every year, the “Caucasian Knot” posts statistics with regard to victims of the armed conflict in the regions of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) in Section “Northern Caucasus: Statistics of Victims”.
