Court leaves Dagestani activist Ataev under arrest
The arrest of Eduard Ataev, an activist suspected of possessing an explosive device, was upheld by the decision of the Supreme Court (SC) of Dagestan.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 30, a court arrested Ataev on suspicion of possessing an explosive device for two months. He claims that a grenade was planted on him, and his persecution has to do with his political activities, the "OVD-Info"* reports.
Eduard Ataev held pickets in Makhachkala with calls, in particular, to stop corruption in the Khasavyurt District. On January 25, he was detained at a protest against the extraction of natural resources in the village of Endirey. A protocol was drawn up against him on disobedience to law enforcers, but the court did not consider the case and returned it back due to violations.
