Baku military experts comment on troops redeployment in Nagorno-Karabakh

The redeployment of Azerbaijani militaries in Nagorno-Karabakh is undertaken in order to strengthen their positions, analysts in Baku have noted. According to their version, Mount Farrukh, the highest point in the east of Nagorno-Karabakh, from which a huge territory is controlled, is of particular importance for Azerbaijani militaries.

Azad Isazade, a military expert, has noted that it is not the village of Farrukh that is of strategic importance, but the mountain of the same name located nearby.

The expert has recollected the bloody battles for Mount Farrukh during the first Karabakh war in 1992-93 as an indicator of the importance of this height. "The capture of Mount Farrukh will allow Azerbaijan to gain control over vast eastern Karabakh territories and bring the Azerbaijani Army closer to the city of Khodjaly," Mr Isazade has noted.

On the other hand, as he noted, the capture of Farrukh solves the problem for Azerbaijan of ensuring security of the vast territory of dwelling settlements of the Agdam District.

As for the village of Pirler (Khramort), it is important from a logistical point of view, since the road to Farrukh passes here.

Shakhin Gadjiev, an observer of the "Turan" News Agency, has also pointed to the strategic importance of Mount Farrukh. At the same time, according to the expert, if the Armenian party tries to attack Azerbaijani militaries, their response will be harsh.
