Kadyrov reports on thousands of participants in collective prayers for Chechen fighters

Thousands of people visit the Grozny Central Mosque every night to participate in collective prayers for the Chechen law enforcers who have left for Ukraine, Ramzan Kadyrov reports.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on March 17, Ramzan Kadyrov announced that a thousand volunteers from Chechnya had gone to Ukraine. On March 24, the leader of Chechnya reported that a new detachment of volunteers, including members of his family, had been sent to participate in the special military operation.

The “Pride of Muslims” Mosque in Shali hosted a “large-scale religious event” in honour of the natives of Chechnya who left for Ukraine, Ramzan Kadyrov announced. According to the leader of Chechnya, the event was attended by more than 2000 students of republican schools of hafiz (a person who had completely memorized the Koran).

A blogger from the “Chechnya Inside” blog on the “Caucasian Knot” also reported about the collective night prayers in the Grozny Mosque. He did not rule out that some of the participants in the night prayers did not come to the mosque by their own will.

One of the users confirmed in a comment the involuntarily nature of mass prayers and referred to a relative “associated with religious figures.”

In another comment on the “Caucasian Knot”, a user states that participants in prayers are forced to go to mosques at night under the threat of being dismissed from job. “The authorities are trying to create the illusion that the Chechen people fully support the special military operation in Ukraine. On the night of March 19, public sector employees were gathered in the ‘Heart of Chechnya’ Mosque to pray for the local law enforcers sent to Ukraine,” user shera wrote.
