In Yerevan, participants of rally call for resumption of negotiations on Nagorno-Karabakh

Forced migrants from Nagorno-Karabakh held an action in front of the building of the Armenian government. They demanded to resume negotiations with Azerbaijan on the settlement of the Karabakh conflict.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on March 14, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Azerbaijan announced its readiness for negotiations with Yerevan on concluding a peace treaty, subject to a number of principles. In response, Yerevan offered to hold talks under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group.

Today, refugees from Gadrut and Shushi have held a rally with the demand to take measures to restore the negotiation process. The rally began in front of the government building in Yerevan, the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent reported with reference to the online broadcast on the “Factor.am” website.

“If so far our demands have concerned the solution of the social problems of the Artsakh (Artsakh is the self-name of Nagorno-Karabakh, – note of the ‘Caucasian Knot) refugees, today, we are worried about the lack of reaction of the authorities to the situation around Armenia and Artsakh,” announced at the rally Levon Airyan, the head of the public organization “In the name of Gadrut”.

In particular, of concern are the events near the Karabakh village of Khramort, where tensions have increased due to the proximity of the Azerbaijani armed forces, and the village of Nerkin Hand in the Syunik Region of Armenia, where, according to the community head’s information, the Azerbaijani armed forces have advanced to new positions, Levon Airyan notes.

The participants of the rally marched from the government building to the UN office in Yerevan. They handed over a letter in which they emphasized that Azerbaijan had violated the principle of the Minsk agreements, in particular, the principle of the non-use of force. “The UN, the European Union, and the OSCE Minsk Group should take measures to restore the negotiation process,” stated the letter, read out by organizers in front of the UN office.
