Stepanakert townspeople express concern about the tense situation in Nagorno-Karabakh
The participants of the action held in Stepanakert have addressed the international community and Russia in writing, demanding to influence the Azerbaijan's behaviour and take more efficient steps towards restoring order in Nagorno-Karabakh.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in recent days the situation on the Azerbaijani-Nagorno-Karabakh border has aggravated. On March 10, Azerbaijani militaries fired about 23 mortar shells in the direction of the Khramort village of the Askeran District, the Nagorno-Karabakh Ministry of Defence (MoD) has stated. A villager was wounded in the back in the yard of his house.
More than 50 people came out to the action in Stepanakert. They called on Russia and other countries "to take steps to curb the Azerbaijan's aggression."
"Azerbaijan's actions are nothing but an ethnic cleansing," the appeal reads.
It also contains a call to increase the number of Russian peacemakers in the territory of Karabakh to ensure the population's safety.
Gayane Agadjanyan, a mother of many children from Stepanakert, hopes that this time they will listen to the voice of Karabakh residents.
"Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) has fought for 44 days, shouting about the crimes committed against it on its own land, but the world was silent. Today, Azerbaijan and Turkey continue their crimes by shelling peaceful dwelling settlements," the woman has stated.
