Chechen woman detained for witchcraft

The "Grozny" TV Channel has posted a report on the Instagram about a woman from the Nozhai-Yurt District of Chechnya, who was detained for occultism. The elderly woman was accused of practising witchcraft rites.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that residents of Chechnya are publicly condemned on air of the "Grozny" ChGTRK (Chechen State TV and Radio Broadcasting Company) for practising occultism or turning to sorcerers. Thus, on February 15, Adam Elzhurkaev, the head of the Centre for Islamic Medicine, publicly reprimanded two residents of the village of Engel-Yurt, who had turned to a healer in Kabardino-Balkaria with a request to improve their family life.

"Batsani Cherovkhanova promised her clients to find a life partner or to bring discord into someone else's family. The charlatan was in line of modern technologies – she rendered some of her services in the online mode," the "Grozny" ChGTRK stated on the Instagram.

Let us remind you that in 2013, Chechnya launched a wave of persecuting healers and psychics, when, amid the fight against magicians and sorcerers announced by Ramzan Kadyrov, dozens of people were detained, and some went missing.
