Kadyrov responds to Japan’s sanctions

The Japan’s authorities have included Ramzan Kadyrov in the list of Russian officials whose assets in the country will be frozen. The leader of Chechnya has assured he has no assets in Japan and is not afraid of sanctions.

The authorities of Japan have imposed personal sanctions against 20 Russian citizens, in particular, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, entrepreneurs Boris Rotenberg and Alisher Usmanov.

The leader of Chechnya has emphasized that the Japan’s authorities “froze my assets, which I never had in Japan.”

“You should know that I don’t care about any sanctions of any country. I’m afraid of only one thing: to fall under the sanctions of Allah!” Ramzan Kadyrov wrote in his Telegram channel.

Let us remind you that in December 2017, the US Department of the Treasury added Ramzan Kadyrov to the Magnitsky sanctions list, calling the leader of Chechnya responsible for extrajudicial executions, torture, and other human rights violations in Chechnya.

On July 20, 2020, the US Department of State announced new sanctions against Ramzan Kadyrov, his wife Medni Kadyrova and his daughters Aishat and Khadizhat.

It should be noted that for many years, human rights organizations associate the activities of the leader of Chechnya with massive and gross violations of human rights.
