Colleagues of journalist Abdulmumin Gadjiev hold three pickets in Makhachkala

Magdi Kamalov, the founder of the "Chernovik" (Draft) outlet, has dedicated his solo picket to the freedom of speech; Magomed Magomedov, the outlet's deputy editor, demanded the release of the arrested journalist, Abdulmumin Gadjiev; and Idris Yusupov, a journalist of the "Novoe Delo" (New Cause) outlet, has demanded to free all the political prisoners.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that solo pickets are periodically held in Makhachkala in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, a "Chernovik" journalist, charged under the case of financing terrorism. His colleagues treat his persecution as pressure on him.

At his March 7 picket, Mr Magomedov stated that Gadjiev had nothing to do with the crimes he was accused of. The outlet employees have been supporting their colleague at pickets for the third year already. Gadjiev himself continues his journalistic activities from the SIZO (pre-trial prison).
