Kadyrov’s words about hostilities in Ukraine underline his claim to a special status

The statement voiced by Ramzan Kadyrov about the ineffectiveness of the Russian troops’ actions in Ukraine was not aimed to criticize Vladimir Putin, but the leader of Chechnya expressed his opinion as the military general, note the analysts interviewed by the “Caucasian Knot”.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on February 27, Ramzan Kadyrov criticized the military leaders of Russia for the slowness and the ineffectiveness of combat actions in Ukraine and called on “to begin a large-scale operation in all directions and territory of Ukraine.”

The words of Ramzan Kadyrov were not aimed to criticize Supreme Commander-in-Chief Vladimir Putin, and the leader of Chechnya expressed his opinion as a military tactic, suggests Alexander Artamonov, a technical editor and a military observer of the weekly “Zvezda” (Star).

The assertion of Ramzan Kadyrov that the special military operation is being carried out too slow is not unfounded, adds Alexander Artamonov. However, he disagrees with the Ramzan Kadyrov’s opinion that the operation was ineffective.

Despite the assertions voiced by Ramzan Kadyrov, nothing will be changed at this stage of the military operation, believes Akhmet Yarlykapov, a senior researcher at the Centre for Caucasian Studies of the MGIMO (Moscow State Institute of International Relations).

“Of course, on the Ramzan Kadyrov’s part, at least, there was no intention to criticize the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. Most likely, this is a criticism of the military commanders of Russia, not Vladimir Putin. Here, Ramzan Kadyrov wants to convey his own vision of how the operation should be conducted … I think nothing will change at this stage, and nothing will be suddenly entrusted to him, but of course, he wants to show the significance of his units,” Akhmet Yarlykapov said.
