Over million sign petition against hostilities in Ukraine
The petition demanding to stop the military operation in Ukraine, posted on February 24 on the Change.org platform, has gathered more than a million signatures. Portal users also put their signatures to the petition demanding to disclose data on losses of Russian militaries in Ukraine and stop sending conscripts there.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 24, Lev Ponomaryov*, a human rights defender, placed the above petition "Stop war with Ukraine!" on the Change.org platform.
As of 8:40 p.m. Moscow time on February 28, the number of signatures under the petition against Russia's military operation in Ukraine reached 1,030,493.
The signatories also support the petition author in the comments. "There should be no war in the 21st century," Ivan Feklistov has written. "I am against the war!!!" Ekaterina Selivanova has stated. "We are brothers with Ukraine; the war will give nothing good – will only lead to the loss of many innocent people!" the user Ekaterina Alexandrova has noted.
On February 27, another petition was also posted on the Change.Org platform demanding to disclose the data on the losses of Russian militaries in Ukraine and to stop sending conscripts there. The author of the petition was the "Pervy Otdel" (First Division) – an open community of lawyers and human rights defenders.
*Lev Ponomaryov has been personally put by the Russian Ministry of Justice on the register of foreign agents.
