Azerbaijan reports about a shelling attack on a village in Nagorno-Karabakh

Today, the positions of the Azerbaijani troops in the village of Yukhari Veisally have been shelled from the territory controlled by Russian peacekeepers, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Azerbaijan reports.

The Azerbaijani military forces opened return fire.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported on regular reports about shooting on the line of contact in Nagorno-Karabakh. Thus, on February 21, the MoD of Azerbaijan reported that members of an Armenian illegal armed formation (IAF) shelled the positions of the Azerbaijani troops in the villages of Shushakend and Tagaverd (the Armenian names are Shosh and Tagavard, respectively, – note of the “Caucasian Knot”) from the territory controlled by the Russian peacekeepers.

Let us remind you that Azerbaijan lost control over the Fizuli District (the Armenian name of Fizuli is Varanda, – note of the “Caucasian Knot”) in August 1993, during the first Karabakh war. During the combat actions in the autumn of 2020 in Karabakh, the Azerbaijani military forces took control over Fizuli.
