Colleagues of journalist Gadjiev support him with pickets in Makhachkala

During solo pickets in Makhachkala, colleagues of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, accused of financing terrorism, demanded to release him from arrest and stop pressure on journalists. Residents of Makhachkala demonstrate their interest in the Abdulmumin Gadjiev’s case and support the picketers, participants of the protests note.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that pickets are regularly held in Makhachkala in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, an arrested journalist of the newspaper “Chernovik” (Rough Draft). The recent protest action took place on February 15.

Magdi Kamalov, a founder of the “Chernovik”, went on a picket demanding “freedom for journalism,” while journalist Idris Yusupov held a solo picket demanding “freedom for political prisoners.”

Magdi Kamalov noted that drivers of cars passing by honked in support of the protesters. He believes that the reaction of the drivers really shows the support of the initiators of the actions on the part of the population.

Solo pickets in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev help preserve the interest of the population in the criminal case against the journalist and also inform residents of the republic who are not aware of the criminal prosecution of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, Idris Yusupov believes.
