Riots continue in Botlikh District of Dagestan
At night from May 15 to 16, a fight and a skirmish burst out in the outskirts of Botlikh village in Dagestan, as a result of which one person was killed and two more were taken to hospital with injuries.
The Prosecutor's Office of the Botlikh District has initiated a criminal case on the incident.
Dzhafar Ramazanov, head of the Botlikh District, has reported that there is no threat of riots in the District. "There were and there are no preconditions for onset of any mass disorders," he has stated.
However, Murtuz Magomedov, a resident of Botlikh, said in his conversation with the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the situation in the village is tense. According to local residents, the bloody incident may quite well have its continuation in the near future.
The "Caucasian Knot" has already informed that the erection of a military settlement in the Botlikh District that commenced late in 2004 was accompanied by a range of scandals and a row of meetings.
