Townspeople of three Georgia cities hold protests
The Georgian cities of Gori, Zugdidi and Telavi has hosted protest actions demanding better living conditions, abolition the increase of electricity tariffs and decrease taxes. The Georgian opposition has reproached authorities for their inefficient countering social problems.
On February 10, several dozen activists held a rally in the city of Gori in front of the administration building of the Shida Kartli Region.
An action was also held by socially unprotected families, who demanded from the authorities to provide them with housing. About 80 families live in an emergency building, the "Formula" TV Channel reports.
Activists have stated that their protest will continue until their demands are satisfied.
Also on February 10, oppositional activists came out to an action in Zugdidi, demanding to cancel the increase in electricity tariffs.
Activists of the anti-corruption movement have demanded from the operator of the Georgian electricity market to make public the contracts under which electric power is purchased.
Georgian authorities fail to address social problems, Giorgi Vashadze, the leader of the oppositional "Agmashenebeli Strategy" Party.
