Saidi Yangulbaev estimates chances to challenge immunity stripping

The Russian qualification board of judges will cancel the decision to terminate the resignation, if it is guided by the law, since the order of this procedure was not observed in Chechnya, Saidi Yangulbaev has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 3, the qualification board of judges of Chechnya terminated the resignation of Saidi Yangulbaev, a former federal judge, thus depriving him of immunity.

In November 2015, Ibragim, the middle Yangulbaevs' son, was brought, together with his father and brother Ibragim, to the residence of Ramzan Kadyrov, where they were beaten up for running a group on the "VKontakte" social network, the head of Chechnya declared a blood feud against Ibragim. The father, Saidi Yangulbaev, under the threat of Ibragim's death, was forced to resign from the post of the federal judge of the Chechen SC, the "Caucasian Knot" reports in its material "How Yangulbaevs became Kadyrov's enemies".

Saidi Yangulbaev believes that it is quite realistic to challenge the termination of his resignation. "No ground under which I could be deprived of my special status can be applied to me: I have no foreign citizenship or a residence permit," the "Kavkaz.Realii"* has quoted him as saying.

According to Saidi Yangulbaev, the decision to terminate his resignation has failed to comply with the procedure stipulated by the law on judges. He said that an advocate should receive a decision to terminate his resignation and appeal against it at the supreme qualification board of Russian judges. "If they work there according to the law, they will immediately cancel the decision to terminate the resignation," Mr Yangulbaev believes.
