“Dozhd” TV Channel* calls on to respond to Kadyrov’s threats

The Russian law enforcement bodies and authorities should respond to the statement voiced by Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, who called the TV Channel terrorists and accomplices of terrorists, the “Dozhd” (Rain) TV Channel* noted in its complaint.

Ramzan Kadyrov, the leader of Chechnya, called the “Dozhd” TV Channel*, as well as the newspaper “Novaya Gazeta”, journalist Elena Milashina, and human rights defender Igor Kalyapin “terrorists, accomplices of terrorists,” and a week earlier he said: “We have always destroyed terrorists and their accomplices, between whom there is no differences, and we will continue to do the same with them,” and therefore, his statement cannot be perceived otherwise than as a threat, the “Dozhd” TV Channel* reports today on its website.

“Direct threats voiced by the leader of one of the regions of the Russian Federation cannot be regarded as a statement of his ‘personal opinion.’ The inaction of the law enforcement system and the lack of a political assessment of those statements create an atmosphere of impunity and endanger the security of the persons mentioned by Ramzan Kadyrov. We are counting on an immediate response from the law enforcement system and the political leaders of Russia,” the “Dozhd” TV Channel* declares.
