Zarema Musaeva's daughter tells about violence against her mother and flight abroad
At detention, Zarema Musaeva was beaten up by law enforcers; and her husband, Saidi Yangulbaev, was subjected to a lengthy interrogation at the airport as he was leaving the country, Aliya Yangulbaeva, the daughter of the abducted woman, has reported.
On January 20, the "Committee against Torture" (CaT)* reported that Zarema Musaeva, the wife of the retired federal judge, Saidi Yangulbaev, was taken to Chechnya in an unconscious state. Ramzan Kadyrov accused the Yangulbaevs of supporting terrorism and called on law enforcers to detain and punish the entire family or kill them as terrorists' accomplices. Saidi Yangulbaev and his daughter left Russia. Zarema Musaeva has been arrested under the case of petty hooliganism, despite the fact that she has diabetes, under which arrest is unacceptable; and an advocate is not allowed to visit her, the CaT has stated.
The YouTube channel "Caution: Sobchak" has posted a video with a report on how the Yangulbaev family left Russia, and how Chechen policemen treated Zarema Musaeva during the detention.
The family first ended up in Moscow, and then they both flew abroad. Human rights defenders feared that they might be stopped from leaving Russia and taken to the Caucasus: at the Sheremetyevo Airport, law enforcers stopped the Yangulbaevs and subjected them to detailed interrogation.
