On January 17-23, 2022, no one fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus
During the week of January 17-23, 2022, no killed or wounded in the ongoing armed conflict in Northern Caucasus were reported. These are the results of the calculations run by the “Caucasian Knot” based on its own materials and information from other open sources.
Case on recruitment into ranks of militants
On January 20, the Southern District Military Court found Ragim Korkmasov, a resident of Dagestan, guilty of recruiting his acquaintance into an illegal armed formation. The resident of Dagestan was sentenced to seven years of imprisonment.
Ragim Korkmasov, a 31-year-old native of the village of Uzun-Otar in the Khasavyurt District of Dagestan, was accused of assisting terrorist activities.
“It was found that in October 2020, in the village of Toturbiykala in the Khasavyurt District, the defendant persuaded his acquaintance to create an illegal armed formation and participate in it,” the press service for the Southern District Military Court reported. Ragim Korkmasov fully admitted his guilt.
On April 22, 2021, Ragim Korkmasov was sentenced by the Khasavyurt court to five years of imprisonment on the charge of an attempt to create an illegal armed formation (IAF).
