Kadyrov demands to detain rights defenders Kalyapin and Milashina
The head of Chechnya has labelled Igor Kalyapin, a member of the presidential Human Rights Council, and Yelena Milashina, a "Novaya Gazeta" journalist, as terrorists' helpers and called to detain them.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 23, Saidi Yangulbaev, a former federal judge, and his daughter Aliya left Russia. Their departure was caused by the threats voiced out by the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, Natalia Kurekina, the press secretary of the "Committee against Torture" (CaT)*, has explained. Earlier, Abubakar Yangulbaev said that about 15 of his relatives living in Grozny stopped contacting and answering calls after the abduction of his mother, Zarema Musaeva.
On January 22, Ramzan Kadyrov on his Telegram channel accused the Yangulbaev family of complicity in terrorism and called on to "liquidate them." The head of Chechnya believes that Igor Kalyapin and Yelena Milashina are terrorists who need to be detained.
Kadyrov has mentioned Kalyapin and Milashina in the context of the abduction of Zarema Musaeva. In his Telegram channel, Kadyrov reproached the judge for improper upbringing of his children.
Let us remind you that in December 2014, Igor Kalyapin said that Kadyrov's statements about relatives' responsibility for militants' actions were contrary to the law. On December 13, 2014, it became known about a fire in the Grozny office of the Consolidated Mobile Group, which includes human rights defenders from the Chechen branch of the CaT.
