Advisor to Dagestani head extradited from Germany to Russia
German authorities have extradited to Russia Osman Makhachev, who worked as an adviser to the former head of Dagestan, Ramazan Abdulatipov, and now is accused under the case of a large bribe.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 10, 2019, a court in Moscow arrested Osman Makhachev in absentia and put him on the international wanted list. The charges against Osman Makhachev are not connected with the case of his brother Magomed, the advocate said earlier.
Magomed Makhachev, Osman's brother, a former head of the Dagestani Main Bureau of Medical and Social Expertise, was accused in a case of organizing a criminal community by the bureau's employees, whose members, according to investigators, received bribes for issuing disability certificates. Under this case, Magomed Makhachev, several of his subordinates, including Ashik Makhachev, the head of one of the Dagestani territorial medical examination bureaus, and Radzhab Abdulatipov, a brother of the former republic's leader, are in custody.
German authorities have extradited to Russia three figurants in criminal cases, including Osman Makhachev, Irina Volk, the spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), has informed. "At the international airport of Frankfurt am Main, German law enforcers have handed three criminal case figurants over to their Russian colleagues," the "Youth of Dagestan" has quoted Ms Volk as saying on January 21.
