Law enforcers prevent picket of Aslanov's wife in Baku
The wife of the convicted journalist, Polad Aslanov, went out to a picket near the building of the Azerbaijani General Prosecutor's Office (GPO), demanding a meeting with the GPO head. Law enforcers pushed the picketer away from the entrance to the building.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 6, Polad Aslanov, the editor-in-chief of the Azerbaijani Internet outlets Xeberman.com and Press-az.com, went on a hunger strike demanding a review of his case.
His wife, Gyulmira Aslanova, went out to a protest picket to the GPO building demanding a meeting with the Public Prosecutor General, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
Ms Aslanova was holding a poster reading "Journalism is not a crime." "For 2.5 years my rights have been violated; my husband has been illegally arrested ... I will fight you to the last drop of my blood; my husband is innocent," she emotionally told the police.
She was offered to come to the GPO's reception room, but Aslanova insisted that the Public Prosecutor General himself receive her. The police demanded from her to move away from the building, after which two police officers pushed Gyulmira away from the entrance to the building.
