Tenants of Yerevan shelter unhappy after meeting officials
At a meeting with the protesting tenants of the shelter for homeless people in Yerevan, officials of the Ministry of Labour and Social Matters refused to solve the problems of the shelter, which they have decided to disband, the protesters have complained.
On January 3, the tenants of the above shelter located in the Vardashen District of Yerevan held a protest in front of the building of the above Ministry. They demanded a meeting with the Minister, Narek Mkrtchyan. The shelter was closed on January 1; and its tenants were offered to move to another facility, but they wouldn't move and refused to leave the shelter.
The minister refused to accept the protesters, but they met the head of the department of the ministry for social matters and his deputy. The protesters were dissatisfied with the meeting, claiming that they were ridiculed at the ministry, the "News.am" reports, citing one of the protesters, who stated that the ministry's offer in no way meets the interests of the shelter tenants. "They literally made fun of us. We have nothing more to talk about with them," the woman said.
