Amid mass kidnappings, Kadyrov's daughter awarded for defence of human rights

Aishat Kadyrova, the head of the Chechen Ministry of Culture, has received a medal "For the Protection of Human Rights", the "Grozny" ChGTRK (Chechen State TV and Radio Broadcasting Company) reported on December 25. However, the Kadyrova's Instagram page contains no human rights statements, including no comments on kidnappings of relatives of her father's critics.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 1, 2020, Ramzan Kadyrov announced the appointment of his eldest daughter Aishat to the post of the First Deputy Minister of Culture of Chechnya.

Aishat Kadyrova was awarded the medal "For the Protection of Human Rights" for "her great contribution to the protection of constitutional rights and interests of citizens, the development of the social and cultural life of the Chechen Republic, the preservation and popularization of the cultural and historical heritage of the Chechen nation," the "Grozny" ChGTRK has reported today.

The report failed to specify for what specific merits in defending people's rights Aishat Kadyrova was awarded.

The website of the Ministry of Culture and Aishat Kadyrova's personal blog on the Instagram contain no statements of human rights nature. Since the appointment of Aishat Kadyrova to the post of the head of the Ministry of Culture, publications in her blog on the Instagram are dedicated to the work of the ministry, travels and congratulations to relatives on holidays. Also, Aishat failed to react in any way to kidnappings by law enforcers of relatives of her father's critics.

On December 22, Minkail Malizaev, a blogger, who criticizes Chechen authorities, also reported about kidnapping of his relatives, while Tumso Abdurakhmanov, another blogger, posted information that a similar fate had befallen the relatives of Mansur Sadulaev, the founder of the "Vayfond" Association. On December 24, Khasan Khalitov, a blogger, who lives in Turkey, reported about kidnapping of at least five his relatives living in Northern Caucasus. On December 22, nine relatives of Tumso Abdurakhmanov were kidnapped; later, six of them were released, but on December 24, it became known about the abduction of his wife's female relatives.
