Kadyrov intervenes into Putin's polemic with Sokurov

The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, has criticized the film director, Alexander Sokurov, for his proposal to President Vladimir Putin to allow some regions of Northern Caucasus to separate from Russia, and urged to check his proposal for extremism.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at the sitting of the Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights, Russian President, Vladimir Putin, and film director, Alexander Sokurov, argued about protests in Ingushetia and separatism in the Caucasus. Putin reacted sharply to Sokurov's words about separatist sentiments among residents of Northern Caucasus and to his call to release the protesters against the agreement on the Chechen-Ingush border.

In his comment on Sokurov's dispute with Putin, Ramzan Kadyrov has condemned the film director for his statements about a possible permit to some regions of Northern Caucasus to separate from Russia.

"We see a lot in TV screens, but I see for the first time such a frank and open support of the American idea of collapsing Russia, which was tested on the collapse of the USSR," the head of Chechnya wrote in his Telegram channel.

"The Chechen Republic was, is and will be an integral part of the Russian Federation!" Ramzan Kadyrov has stated. Sokurov's words during his dispute with the Russian President should be examined for extremism, the head of Chechnya is sure.
