Film of KBR director put on long-list of nominees for Oscar
The film "Unclenching the Fists" directed by Kira Kovalenko and filmed in North Ossetia was put on the long list of films nominated for the Oscar in the category "Best Foreign Film".
The film was shot in Mizur, a former miners' village in North Ossetia, located along the Transcaucasian highway. Mizur is fenced off from the highway by soundproof shields, which Kovalenko used as a metaphor in her film: life has stopped here, and it is very difficult for the main heroine to get out from behind these walls.
Kira Kovalenko's film "Unclenching the Fists" has been included into the list of nominees for the Oscar in the "Best Foreign Language Film" nomination, the "Interfax" has reported today.
The long list of applicants includes 90 films. The short list thereof will be announced on December 21, and the nominees for the award will be announced on February 8, the TASS has reported today.
