Tbilisi: opponents of "green passports" demand freedom of choice on vaccination

A protest action against the compulsion to vaccination and use of "green passports" organized in central Tbilisi gathered several thousand people. They demanded a public debate on the issue.

Since December 1, it has become compulsory to present "green passports" with information about vaccinations and the suffered coronavirus while visiting many establishments in Georgia. In particular, without a "green passport" you cannot visit catering establishments, theatres, cinemas, museums, entertainment and fitness centres and hotels.

On December 5, over five thousand people took part in the march held in central Tbilisi from the First Democratic Republic Square to the Patriarchate of Georgia. The marchers made a stop in front of the parliament building, where they held a protest action.

The organizers of the protest action announced that actions will be held weekly until their demands are met, treating the authorities' actions as "covid fascism." "We demand from the authorities to abolish 'green passports'," Irakli Abashidze, one of the organizers of the protest action, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. According to his story, the organizers of protest actions want to hold public live debates on the state TV channel.
