Suspect of killing Kamalov tells "Chernovik" details of his torture

Magomed Khazamov, accused of assassinating the founder of the "Chernovik" (Draft) portal, gave an interview at the SIZO (pre-trial prison) to Abdulmumin Gadjiev, a journalist of the portal, and told about the prolonged torture after detention.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Khadjimurad Kamalov, the founder of the social and political "Chernovik" weekly, was fatally wounded on December 15, 2011, not far from the paper's office. Kamalov's colleagues criticize the investigators' work, while Magdi Kamalov, Khadjimurad's brother, believes that the defendants are innocent.

Magomed Khazamov, a former head of the dwelling settlement of Bogatyryovka, who is accused of killing Khadjimurad Kamalov, gave, while at the Rostov SIZO, an interview to Abdulmumin Gadjiev, a "Chernovik" journalist, who was arrested on charges of financing terrorism. Part of his story under the title "29 Days of Torture" was published by the "Chernovik" on November 24.

While answering Gadjiev's questions, Magomed Khazamov declared his innocence. He described the circumstances of his detention in Kislovodsk as "a rather tough special operation." "The first thing they did to me, as soon as they took me into the building, broke my nose with a kick. I almost fainted. When I found my nose, it was somewhere on the side. They took me to the toilet. There I crunched my nose through pain to the place. It was very swollen, the blood did not stop for a long time; and it was difficult for me to breathe," said the suspect.

Later, Khazamov was moved to the isolation facility in Yessentuki, where he was tortured. According to his story, the torture continued for 29 days, sometimes with short intervals. "They gave me food for the first time on the fifth day. During the torture, my heart stopped completely six times. They pumped me out. After such an attack, they made a one-day break," he asserts.
