Cases on terrorist cell in penal colony
On November 19, the Leninsky District Court of Rostov-on-Don extended the pre-trial restriction measure for Elbrus Salavatov and Arsen Ubaisov until February 23, 2022. Both residents of Dagestan were detained in June and arrested by the Makhachkala District Court. Elbrus Salavatov is accused of creating a terrorist community, while Arsen Ubaisov is accused of participating in a terrorist community.
Elbrus Salavatov and Arsen Ubaisov were serving their sentences together in the same penal colony No. 7 in Dagestan from April 11, 2014 to October 10, 2017. According to the investigators’ version, the prisoners supported the ideas of the “Islamic State” (IS, a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court, – note of the “Caucasian Knot”).
Every month, quarter, and every year, the “Caucasian Knot” posts statistics with regard to victims of the armed conflict in the regions of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) in Section “Northern Caucasus: Statistics of Victims”.
