Street protesters detained in Yerevan

Yerevan townspeople have blocked several streets demanding from the Prime Minister not to admit the border delimitation with Azerbaijan. The police have reported detention of 18 protesters.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 16, armed clashes occurred on Armenian-Azerbaijani border, which ended after the parties' negotiations with the Russian Defence Minister. Both parties reported losses: Azerbaijan informed about the death of seven soldiers and wounding other 10; Armenia reported six casualties. In the evening on November 17, there was another shootout at the border; the parties blamed each other of violating the ceasefire.

Today, from early morning, streets were blocked in different parts of Yerevan because activists began their informing actions. They call on all citizens to unite and gather today at 5:00 p.m. in Republic Square with a demand to stop all the processes related to the demarcation and delimitation of borders.

In his live speech on his Facebook page, Ara Zograbyan, the chairman of the Bar Association and the founder of the "Awakening" Party, who had blocked, along with other activists, Arshakunyants Avenue, has addressed citizens stating that this is the only way to draw people's attention to what is happening at the border.

Activists have stated that if Nikol Pashinyan fails to accept their demands, protest actions will take place throughout the country; and actions of disobedience will also be held.

During the protests, 18 people were detained, Zarzand Gabrielyan, the head of the media relations department of the Armenian Police, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
