Georgia has filed a case on Russia at the European Court

The Georgian Ministry of Justice has lodged a lawsuit today against Russia to the European Court for Human Rights in Strasbourg. "The suit is based on thousands of facts of violent infringement of human rights of Georgian citizens and ethnic Georgian at their deportation from Russia," the official application of the Ministry runs.

In connection with the suit, on Tuesday, March 27, Vissarion Bokhashvili, Georgian state representative at the European Court for Human Rights, will make an official statement, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has informed earlier that numerous cases of oppression against Georgian natives by members of Russian power agencies had become the consequence of the espionage scandal that had burst out in Georgia on September 27. Deportation of illegal immigrants from Russia was estimated by official Georgian bodies as a sort of ethnic cleansing, and even genocide against people of Georgian origin. In total, according to the Federal Migration Service, about five thousand Georgian citizens were deported from Russia during 9 months of last year.
