Murder of an imam becomes first armed incident in Dagestan for a month

The shooting in the village of Ameterkmakhi has become the first armed incident in Dagestan within 32 days. The previous incident was the counterterrorist operation (CTO) conducted in the Buynaksk District.

Today, a participant of a land conflict has killed the imam of the mosque and wounded two persons in the village of Ameterkmakhi. One of the wounded has stabbed the attacker with a knife.

The attacker came to the mosque in Ameterkmakhi at the end of Friday prayer. He fired 13 bullets from a submachine gun, the “Sovest Dagestana” Telegram channel reports.

The shooting in the village of Ameterkmakhi has become the first armed incident in Dagestan since September 10, when, according to the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC), two suspected militants were killed during a special operation in the Buynaksk District. Earlier, on April 22, policemen were shelled when they were trying to detain two men in Kizlyar. No one was injured. Both attackers were taken to a police station.
