Police demand explanations from Gadjiev's colleagues about pickets in his support

In Makhachkala, the picketers demanded to release Abdulmumin Gadjiev and all the political prisoners, as well as to stop arrests without proofs. The police did not interfere with the picketers, but requested written explanations from them, the colleagues of the arrested journalist have informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that solo pickets in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, a journalist of the "Chernovik" weekly, are regularly held in Makhachkala. His colleagues treat the cases of pressure on media and criminal prosecution of journalists as an all-Russian trend.

According to investigators, Abdulmumin Gadjiev, Abubakar Rizvanov, the head of the "Ansar" charitable fund, and Kemal Tambiev had raised 68 million roubles and USD 200,000 for terrorists under the pretext of building mosques and helping Muslims.

On October 4, in Makhachkala, three solo pickets were held, Idris Yusupov, a journalist, has informed. The first picket demanding to free Gadjiev was held by Magomed Magomedov, a deputy editor-in-chief of the "Chernovik". The second picket with a demand to stop unproved arrests was held by Magdi Kamalov, the founder of the "Chernovik". The third picket demanding freedom for political prisoners was held by Idris Yusupov himself.

According to Mr Magomedov, the police requested written explanations from picket initiators with justification of the aims of their actions.
