Georgian police declares information about Saakashvili's return to be fake

Today, Mikheil (Mikhail) Saakashvili, a former Georgian President, has written in his Facebook page that he had already returned to Georgia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in his Facebook page Saakashvii announced his intention to fly to Tbilisi on October 2.

In Georgia, Mikhail Saakashvili was sentenced in absentia to three years of imprisonment in a case on abuse of power when pardoning those convicted for the murder of businessman Sandro Girgvliani and to six years of imprisonment in a case on the 2005 beating of MP Valery Gelashvili. The former president of Georgia also faces other charges.

Saakashvili has posted a new video message in which he informs that he is in Batumi already. "This is my Batumi. On October 2, everyone go to the polls. [...] How I missed you! Today is the day when my dream has come true; but it will finally come true, when Georgia gets back on its feet. [...] On October 2, we all go to the polls; and after [October] 3, we all come out to Rustaveli [Avenue] and Freedom Square. If there are 100,000 of us, no one will be able to defeat us; and Georgia will re-enter the path of development. I hope for you; you see that I've done everything for you. I've staked my life, my freedom, everything to come here. The only thing I want is that you go to the polls," the politician has stated in his video message, which was translated by Beslan Kmuzov, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has commented on the information about the arrival of the former president to Georgia by stating that Mikheil Saakashvili had not crossed the country's border, the "InterPressNews" reports.

Tina Bokuchava, an MP and one of the leaders of the "United National Movement" (UNM) Party, has refrained from an unambiguous answer to the question on whether Saakashvili had returned to Georgia, the "News-Georgia" has notes.
