Dagestan Procuracy appeals against verdict on Buinaksk terror act
The Dagestan Office of Public Prosecutor has appealed at the Supreme Court against the acquittal verdict to Magomed Salikhov accused of exploding a block of flats in Buinaksk in 1999. "The Prosecutor's Office has brought in a cassation petition on the acquittal," the Court spokesman reported. In his words, the Office insists on cancelling the verdict as it thinks that essential violations of the Code of Criminal Procedure were committed during the hearings at the Dagestan Supreme Court.
The complaint will be considered on April 20, the RIA "Novosti" informs.
Mr. Salikhov was twice acquitted by the jury of the charges of organizing the explosion of the block of flats in Buinaksk.
The "Caucasian Knot" reported earlier that the act of terror in Buinaksk was committed on September 4, 1999. A GAS-53 lorry stuffed with explosive was blown up at No. 3 in Shikhsaidov Street. In the explosion 64 persons were killed and died from wounds, and over a hundred received wounds of various gravity.
