Witness in Gadjiev’s case speaks about fundraising for Hafiz school

Aleksandra Katsaeva, a prosecution witness in a case against journalist Abdulmumin Gadjiev, said that she was engaged in fundraising on her bank cards to help orphans, but did not track the spending of the raised money. The witness also said she never spoke with any of the three defendants.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on September 9, at the trial in Abdulmumin Gadjiev’s case, law enforcers appeared as witnesses, but they failed to provide a single proof of the transfer of money to terrorists, an advocate noted.

Prosecution witness Aleksandra Katsaeva stated that she did not personally see Karim Aliev and did not know him, but “a large amount of money finally ended on her bank card.”

Later, according to prosecution witness, Karim Aliev said they were also to help refugees, “and it would be nice to start fundraising for these needs.” He suggested that she got a new bank card opened in her name.

In 2017, “a number of persons involved in the financing of terrorist activities were identified, in particular, Dagestani religious leader Israil Akhmednabiev.” Together with Karim Aliev and Abubakar Rizvanov, he created the “Ansar” foundation to raise funds for orphans and low-income families by announcing fundraising for the construction of a “Hafiz school” in Dagestan, but part of the funds raised “was directed to financing terrorist activities,” said on September 9 Abduldjapar Biyarslanov, a prosecution witness, an employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan.
