Defence associates Khoroshilov’s arrest with his journalistic activities

Rostov journalist Igor Khoroshilov is under investigation, since top-ranking officials consider him involved in critical posts on Telegram channels, journalist’s advocate Yevgeny Berkovich believes.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on September 10, Rostov journalist Igor Khoroshilov was detained on suspicion of disseminating extremist materials. Activist Leonid Sankin reports that the detention of Igor Khoroshilov is related to the journalist’s post about “Smart Voting” on Facebook.

Journalist Igor Khoroshilov is under investigation, because he greatly annoys officials by making public the information that is inconvenient for them, and they believe that Igor Khoroshilov is related to the activities of Telegram channels that belong to disgraced journalist Sergey Reznik, reports Yevgeny Berkovich, an advocate of Igor Khoroshilov. “We fear that within ten days of the [Khoroshilov’s] arrest a new charge may be brought against him, and he will be involved in the case as a defendant, since he greatly annoys the authorities. The Centre ‘E’ (Centre for Combating Extremism, – note of the ‘Caucasian Knot) tries in every possible way to associate him with Sergey Reznik and at the same time sends a signal to Sergey Reznik himself not to return to the country,” Yevgeny Berkovich told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.
