Residents of Dagestan stand up for head teacher of Madjalis school

Adamkadi Kurbankadiev, the head teacher of the school in Madjalis, who resigned after the scandal around the demand for schoolgirls to wear headscarves, performed his boss' order and was not guilty, pupils' parents believe.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in September, a resonant video appeared showing school deputy principal in the village of Madjalis of the Kaitag District of Dagestan examining schoolgirls near the metal detector and letting in only those who wore headscarves. The actions of the head teacher sparked indignation among pupils' parents. Then, Adamkadi Kurbankadiev, the deputy principal – the hero of the video, resigned of his own free will, but claims that he did it under the pressure of his bosses, who presented him as the initiator of checking headscarves on schoolgirls.

Earlier, schoolgirls were not forced to cover their heads at classes, the mother of one of the schoolgirls told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. According to her story, class teachers informed parents about the new rule back in summer, referring to the instruction of the school administration.

"The teachers-members of the WhatsApp group received a message from the principal, in which she, by attaching a photo of girls sitting in headscarves in class, wrote: 'Look how beautifully the girls are sitting, is that bad?'," Svetlana Gadjikadieva, one of the teachers, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Adamkadi Kurbankadiev, the deputy principal, is not to blame for the situation, as he followed the principal's order, the father of one of the schoolgirls named Zapir believes. "He suffered and was fired for nothing," the man told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
