Khalitov and Mamakaev report release of their relatives in Chechnya

Blogger Khasan Khalitov, who lives in Turkey, and Ilman Mamakaev, a resident of Belgium, report about the release of their relatives, detained in Chechnya after an incident in Istanbul when a law enforcer had been beaten there.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that Khasan Khalitov, a critic of the Chechen authorities, and Ilman Mamakaev reported about the kidnappings of their relatives in Chechnya and Moscow on September 5. Khasan Khalitov and Ilman Mamakaev associate it with the earlier incident in Istanbul when a supporter of Ramzan Kadyrov was beaten.

Khasan Khalitov told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent that his 75-year-old father Gani Khalitov, 46-year-old brother Ramzan Khalitov, and 31-year-old twin brother Khusein Khalitov, who was forcibly taken to Chechnya from Moscow, have been released and are at home.

The blogger claims that law enforcers still put pressure on him through his relatives, who demand to stop any public criticism of the Chechen authorities. According to Khasan Khalitov, his family told him that they could fell victim to revenge from Chechen officials.

According to Khasan Khalitov, Abdurakhman Maduev, a former fighter of the Akhmat Kadyrov special-purpose police regiment in Grozny, was beaten in Istanbul. Khasan Khalitov says that when he learned about the Abdurakhman Maduev’s presence in Istanbul, he sent his photo and the data to Security Turkey, engaged in providing security for members of the North-Caucasian Diaspora. After that, Abdurakhman Maduev was beaten, and then the relatives of Khasan Khalitov were detained.

Ilman Mamakaev, a native of Chechnya, who lives in Belgium, has also informed the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent about the release of his relatives: his 73-year-old father and three brothers, including a minor. “My relatives were released on September 6. They were beaten, and blood feud was declared against us for nothing. I myself have been living in Belgium since 2015, and I know Khasan Khalitov only due to his YouTube channel. Neither I nor my family members have been engaged in what happened in Istanbul,” Ilman Mamakaev reported.
