Georgia condemns banner installation on demarcation line with South Ossetia

The Georgia's State Security Service (SSS) has treated the installation of warning signs on the South-Ossetian side of the demarcation line as destructive.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in May 2021, activists of the "Strength in Unity" movement staged protest actions on the border with South Ossetia against the installation of warning signs and fences.

The South-Ossetian party has installed a warning sign near the village of Khurvaleti in the Gori District of Georgia, the "Sova.news" has reported with reference to the Georgian SSS.

"The SSS is recording the destructive actions of the occupation forces; a hotline is activated for each of them; and information is provided in real time to the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia. The illegal activities of the occupation forces damage local security and complicate the daily life of the local population. All the responsibility for these actions is on the Russian Federation," the Channel One of the Georgian TV quoted the SSS' statement on September 4.

  • Compensation decrease for illegal prosecution violates rights of KBR resident

The court ruling, which awarded Madin Gubzhokov compensation of 30,000 roubles for unlawful criminal prosecution, is incomparable with the moral harm caused by the actions of Azamat Kyaov, a former law enforcer. The amount is ridiculous and should be appealed against, lawyers and human rights defenders have stated.
