MIA imposes life ban on comic Mirzalizade on entering Russia

Idrak Mirzalizade, an ethnic Talysh, who served ten days of administrative arrest for a joke about xenophobia, has been recognized as an undesirable person in Russia, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of the Russian Federation reports today.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that in July, the Prosecutor’s Office for the Central Administrative District of Moscow instituted an administrative case against Idrak Mirzalizade on ethnic humiliation because of his joke about the problems with renting housing in Moscow. On August 9, the comic was sentenced to ten days of administrative arrest.

After a joke about xenophobes, Idrak Mirzalizade was hit after his performance. Attackers demanded from him to apologize, but the comic refused. According to Idrak Mirzalizade, three weeks before the attack, he received several thousand threats.

Idrak Mirzalizade has been banned from entering the Russian Federation for life. “The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation has made a decision on the undesirability of stay (residence) in the Russian Federation of Idrak Kakhin ogly Mirzalizade, a citizen of the Republic of Belarus, for his life," the Russian MI reports today.

“During his public performance, Idrak Mirzalizade allowed expressions inciting hatred and enmity towards persons of Russian nationality, humiliating their human dignity. In this regard, his presence on the territory of the Russian Federation has been recognized as threatening public order, the rights and legitimate interests of other people,” The Russian MIA reports on its official website.
