Militaries who shot women in Chechnya are on trial
Investigators of the Military Office of Public Prosecutor of the United Force Grouping (UFG) in North Caucasus continue their enquiry into the incident that occurred on March 24 in the high-mountainous Shatoi District of Chechnya. On that day, a scout group of the Military Commandant's Office swept three women who were gathering ramson in a dense forest.
"The investigation of the case is carried out by the employees of the Military Office of Public Prosecutor," an officer of the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs has told the correspondent of the "Caucasian Knot." "As far as I know, the militaries continue to insist that they had opened fire on the women by mistake, having taken them for militants. However, there are all the grounds to doubt, since the incident took place in the daylight before the afternoon and the servicemen should have seen quite well that not armed people but women were in front of them."
