Investigators promise to follow up application on torture of Derbent residents

For the tenth time, investigators have refused to initiate a criminal case against the law enforcers who had tortured three residents of Derbent, but the head of the Dagestani branch of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) has assured that he would supervise the check, relatives of the Derbent residents have informed. At a picket in Makhachkala, their mothers showed photos of their sons' bloody clothes.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that female relatives of Islam Barzukaev, Khasan Kurbanov and Mirzaali Mirzaliev are regularly holding pickets in Makhachkala in support of their sons. Mirzaliev's mother claimed that law enforcers had forced him to incriminate Barzukaev and Kurbanov.

According to investigators, Barzukaev, Kurbanov and Mirzaliev had organized an armed grouping to "commit attempts on law enforcers." Relatives claim that the three young men had been kidnapped and forced to give confessions under torture.

On August 9, the mothers of Barzukaev and Mirzaliev, as well as an aunt of Khasan Kurbanov, held pickets in Makhachkala. They came out with photos of the defendants "before and after the torture." Another poster showed photos of their clothes with traces of blood and the inscription: "Things after brutal torture."
