Armenia and Azerbaijan exchange accusations of shelling attacks

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Armenia reported about a shelling attack in the direction of the Yeraskh village, while the Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan claimed a shelling attack on its positions in the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic (NAR).

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on August 4, the Armenian armed forces suppressed an attempt by an Azerbaijani unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to fly over the Gegarkunik Region, and the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence claimed a shelling attack on its positions. On August 5, Yerevan announced the deployment of Russian border guards’ checkpoints near the village of Voskepar in the Tavush Region. On August 6, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence reported about a shelling attack on the armed forcers’ positions from the Armenian side at the border of Nakhichevan and in the Kelbadjar District.

On Friday, the Azerbaijani side used firearms of various calibres to shell Armenian positions in the direction of the Yeraskh village in the Ararat Region, the Armenian MoD reported. As a result, a fire broke out in the interposition zone, the press service for the Armenian MoD reports.
