Azerbaijan claims shelling of its positions on Armenian border

The positions of the Azerbaijani Army stationed in the Kelbadjar District have been shelled from Armenia, the press service of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night on July 28, 2021, local hostilities broke out on the border of the Gegarkunik Region of Armenia with Azerbaijan; three Armenian soldiers perished. In the morning on July 28, the parties, mediated by Russia, agreed on a ceasefire, but the very next day they blamed each other of violating thereof. On August 4, Armenian militaries stopped an attempt of an Azerbaijani drone to fly over the territory of the Gegarkunik Region, the Armenian MoD has informed.

"On August 4 at 2:50 a.m., units of the Armed Forces of Armenia fired at positions of the Azerbaijani Army from small arms in the direction of the swelling settlement of Ellidje of the Kelbadjar District," the Azerbaijani MoD has claimed.

There are no victims among the personnel of the Azerbaijani Army. The situation in this direction is stable; the operative situation is controlled by units of Azerbaijani troops, the Azerbaijani MoD has informed.
